The little man stands up to big mining in Bulga, NSW. For the IHT.
A recent story that my good buddy (and sometimes landlord) Matt Siegel and I worked on recently was featured on the front page of the Asian edition of The International Herald Tribune earlier this week.
The story of the tiny town of Bulga in the NSW Hunter Valley has many of the hallmarks of the iconic 1997 Australian film The Castle, with a big mining company (Rio Tinto) coming up against uncomplicated, small-town folk.
The result of the dispute is set to make a legal precedent for future cases and will therefore be watched closely by those from both sides of the argument.
